HSVMA is now HumaneVMA
February 2025 - We are excited to share the news from HSVMA’s parent organization, the Humane Society of the United States. For decades, the HSUS and its international affiliate, Humane Society International, have been working in more than 50 countries protecting animals from cruelty and suffering. To maximize our global impact and help even more animals in need, we have now come together under one new name: Humane World for Animals. As the veterinary division of the HSUS, HSVMA is also excited to share that we will now be known as Humane Veterinary Medical Alliance and our name will be abbreviated as HumaneVMA. As many of our veterinary professional allies know, the term “humane society” is strongly associated with shelters and rescues, organizations that do incredible impactful work for animals but which are different from and operate independently from us. This new name more clearly reflects the focus of our engagement around the world, including with those across the veterinary profession who are committed to the humane treatment of all animals. The new name also reflects the increasingly international scope of our engagement. While this new name helps clarify our mission and scope, the important work that we do will not be changing. We are as committed as ever to partnering with you to promote the health and welfare of all animals on a global scale. All our valuable membership benefits will continue to be available to you through HumaneVMA, including our signature animal welfare-focused CE webinar series, access to insurance through our partners, free and discounted publications, animal welfare resources, updates on animal welfare news and opportunities to engage in animal welfare advocacy.
