HumaneVMA Student RepresentativesA student representative of the Humane Veterinary Medical Alliance (HumaneVMA) is a veterinary student who partners with the HumaneVMA to build awareness about animal welfare issues on campus. This position is only available on campuses that do not already have an HumaneVMA Student Chapter. MembershipThe HumaneVMA Student Representative will become a member of HumaneVMA. Student membership in HumaneVMA is free and automatically upgrades to free Professional membership through the first year after graduation. For more information, visit humanevma.org/benefits. Speakers BureauHumaneVMA Student Representatives can request to host one HumaneVMA Speakers Bureau presentation each academic year (booking will depend on speaker and travel funding availability). If confirmed with HumaneVMA, the Student Representative must identify a lecture hall or other location for the presentation, and HumaneVMA will pay for the speaker’s travel and a vegetarian lunch. Student Representatives also have the option of hosting a webinar viewing with one of the more than two dozen archived HumaneVMA webinars. Contact us at [email protected] for more information. Representing HumaneVMA on CampusHumaneVMA Student Representatives are encouraged to hold at least one HumaneVMA orientation meeting, represent HumaneVMA at a campus event (e.g. freshman orientation, student activities fair), or sponsor another activity each academic year to reach out to other veterinary students who are not HumaneVMA Student Members.
